One of the S.F. Ferry Building’s original restaurants has closed

One of the last remaining original restaurant tenants of the Ferry Building and a beloved farm-to-table pioneer, Boulettes Larder, has closed after two decades in San Francisco.

Its final day was Thursday, the Ferry Building announced, as well as next-door spinoff Bouli Bar. It marks the latest closure at the landmark as owners Hudson Pacific Properties push for more evening food options.

Owners Amaryll Schwertner and Lori Regis opened Boulettes Larder in 2004, shortly after the Ferry Building was transformed with a major remodel and aspirations as a food and retail destination. They did not give a reason for the closure in a press release. The news was first reported by the San Francisco Standard.

“What we’ve offered here each day has been, at its heart, a small and steady practice — a modest (yet deeply heartfelt) gesture in service to the beautifully intricate web of California’s food producers,” Schwertner and Regis said in a statement. “We leave with full hearts and extend our deepest gratitude to the guests, friends, producers and the Ferry Building community who have made the restaurant’s journey so meaningful.”…
