Another hot one with highs in the mid to upper 90s and heat index values up to 112°. A heat advisory is set for 11 am – 8 pm this evening for the entire area. The good news is that the cold front we’ve been talking about ALL week arrives Friday night. Ahead of it, late-day showers and storms will fire up. A few storms could become strong and severe with damaging winds. Waves of soaking rain continue overnight.
For both weekend days, we will get a brief lull in rain and storms in the morning hours before rain fills in the radar again during the afternoon. The front will sit to our south and stall out. Because the front is stalled, storm motion will be slow as well at times. This will lead to torrential rain and localized street flooding. Rain totals overall look to be between 3-5″ through Monday evening. This will be beneficial rain as we are currently just around 3″ below average in rain totals…
