Saginaw Street near downtown Lansing to partially close for months; traffic backups expected

LANSING — Commuters who regularly travel east on Saginaw Street near Lansing Community College may want to spend the weekend considering alternative routes.

Monday, Aug. 4, marks the city of Lansing’s official start date for a sewer separation project that could mean a new Saginaw Street, between Larch and Chestnut streets.

Around 9 a.m. on Aug. 4, Saginaw Street from Chestnut Street east to Grand Avenue will be reduced to one traffic lane for a two-year, $26.35 million project that promises the installation of new sewers, water main, pavement, curbs, sidewalk ramps and other utilities…
