Toll rates on Highway 288 to drop by half starting in September

HOUSTON (KIAH) — The Texas Department of Transportation said that drivers can expect toll rates on Highway 288 to drop by nearly half on September 1.

Last year, the state announced that it was taking over the toll lanes from a private operator. TxDOT is also restoring the $1.7 billion payment to the state highway fund to ensure that new projects across the state are not delayed.

TxDOT says the rates won’t drop during peak hours, and rates may fluctuate to keep traffic flowing in the managed lanes…
