New Orleans Police Investigating Early Morning Fatal Shooting on Franklin Avenue

Early this morning turned tragic on Franklin Avenue, as New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) officers were called to the scene of a fatal shooting. The incident, happening in the 1600 block of Franklin Avenue, was reported at approximately 4:22 a.m., when Fifth District Officers responded to a distressing call.

The NOPD swiftly issued a statement after their arrival, finding an adult male victim who had incurred at least one gunshot wound. Despite the immediacy of emergency services, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. In a statement obtained by NOPD News, “Upon arrival officers discovered an adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound.”

The identity of the man, along with the official cause of death, will be released by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office following an autopsy and the notification of next of kin.
