UNM makes temporary change to emergency siren system

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The University of New Mexico’s emergency siren system is currently offline while it is being relocated to a new building.

UNM said the system is being moved from the Humanities Building, which is scheduled for demolition, to a new permanent location at the Student Union Building (SUB).

This process is expected to take approximately two weeks.

UNM said its emergency notification system remains fully operational, with the exception of the siren being offline. If an emergency does occur on campus, UNM will continue to send alerts through various sources such as:

  • LoboAlerts (text and email)
  • UNM home page (emergency banner)
  • UNM social media channels
  • Police Department vehicle public address systems
  • Campus-wide emails

The university encouraged the campus community to ensure that their contact information is up to date in the http://loboalerts.unm.edu enrollment link to receive notifications without delay…
