Ottawa County child care provider’s license suspended following safety violations

ZEELAND, MI – The Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MiLEAP) has suspended the license of an Ottawa County child care provider following a complaint investigation.

The investigation was conducted by the MiLEAP Child Care Licensing Bureau (CCLB) at Carolyn DeBoer’s in-home daycare, located at 10109 Riley Street in Zeeland, and concluded on Thursday, July 31, according to a MiLEAP news release.

Several violations of the Child Care Organizations Act and administrative rules were found during the investigation, including:

  • Failure to act in a manner that is conducive to the welfare of children
  • Failure to provide appropriate care and supervision of children at all times
  • Failure to securely store dangerous and hazardous items out of the reach of children
  • Failure to operate within licensed capacity and ratio rules
  • Failure to comply with safe sleep rules for infants
