I’m All Alone Digging Hot Weather

Over the years, I have experienced some extreme weather. At one point, my wife and I lived in Lansing, Michigan. I like Michigan a lot but the winters there were a surprise. The worst was a windchill of 68 degrees below zero. It was so cold that as you RAN from your car to office or car to your house, you could feel the inside of your nose sting like thousand needles just invaded your nostrils. As we drove around Michigan, I noticed how many signs had Native American names and I wondered how they survived in a tipi when we were burning the furniture in the fireplace just to stay alive.

I used to work with some radio stations in Yuma AZ and will never forget my first visit. I flew to San Diego and rented a car for the drive to Yuma. When I arrived, I opened the car door and got my first taste of the other end of temperature extremes when I experienced 126 degrees for the first time. While living in Las Vegas, I remember having a party at our house one night when the LOW was 100 degrees. The LOW! Having said that, I’ve never had a problem with hot weather. People like to tell you, “It’s a dry heat”. So is our oven but a lot of people find it unpleasant. I would run 2 or 3 miles in the morning when the temperature in Las Vegas was 90 or more but my wife thought I was crazy. It wasn’t for show. I’m really not uncomfortable when it’s hot but I’m the first one complaining when it’s cold…
