The life of an artist is a mystery to many. As artists, we have a passion, maybe even an obsession, for what we do. We have been actively creating artwork most of our lives, starting at a very young age. In fact, art is such a strong element in our lives that it’s in our thoughts and plans daily! We try to travel in the summertime and paint somewhere very different to Naples to regenerate after a busy year painting our favorite place and where we live! As we have done this for the past 25 years, we have gained quite a following in northern Michigan, where our art is represented by four galleries, from Mackinac Island to Charlevoix, Traverse City to Glen Arbor. We paint en plein air and capture scenes up there with a fresh view and enjoy a “working vacation” that encourages painting on location. Upon return, our paintings of Naples have a renewed look and we see our home with fresh eyes.
A few of the artists that are in our gallery are originally from Michigan and they see scenes of Naples in an exciting way that
offers a great variety. Our gallery represents eight artists working in various mediums and techniques that interpret similar scenes in their own way. Most of our artists paint en plein air, so they are of Naples, but offer a great variety of styles. Phil is busy painting in the gallery during the months of the rainy season, as painting almost every day is what he wants to do for the rest of his life.
