Kroger teaming up with Flashfood to fight food waste and slash grocery bills

Shoppers in Richmond now have a new way to save money and fight food waste thanks to a partnership between Flashfood and Kroger’s Mid-Atlantic Division. The pilot program has launched in 16 local Kroger stores, giving customers access to deeply discounted fresh groceries nearing their best-by dates via the Flashfood mobile app.

Flashfood, a tech platform aimed at tackling food waste and food insecurity, allows users to browse and buy fresh items like meat, dairy, produce, and baked goods directly from their phones. After purchasing through the app, shoppers pick up their discounted items from designated Flashfood zones located inside participating Kroger stores.
