These 5 Staten Island neighborhoods were hit by car thieves in a single week

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — There were five reported vehicle thefts during the week of July 21 through 27, according to NYPD data.

Despite the recent incidents, the number of automobile thefts reported in the borough this year has continued to decline, police data shows. Car thefts reported through July 27 dropped 42% (116 vs. 199) when compared to the same period in 2024, according to the NYPD’s latest CompStat figures.
