CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — It was a shower of ping pong balls in downtown Cedar Rapids on Saturday morning, as crowds gathered for the annual Big Drop fundraiser hosted by the Cedar Rapids West Rotary.
The spectacle took place at 11 a.m. near Green Square Park and the Cedar Rapids Public Library, in the heart of the Downtown Farmers Market. Several thousand numbered ping pong balls were released from a lift high above the crowd. Three of them were caught for cash prizes.
