Massachusetts bills to ban use of Native Americans team names, mascots, logos, at all public schools

State lawmakers in Massachusetts have sponsored bills that could impact school districts using Native American-themed team names, logos, or mascots.

Building on prior proposals, the legislation titled “An Act prohibiting the use of Native American mascots by public schools in the Commonwealth” is advancing. As of July 24, Senate Bill S.312 which you can view HERE has been favorably reported by committee and sent to Senate Ways and Means, while House Bill H.575 which you can view HERE underwent a hearing on June 17.
