A very warm and moisture-rich air mass is sitting over Southeast Texas. With an environment like this, it doesn’t take much — just small disturbances in the atmospheric flow — for scattered thunderstorms to develop throughout the area.
That’s exactly what we’re expecting on Sunday. Not everyone in the Houston area will encounter rainfall. In fact, many will just experience hot and humid conditions. But the storms that do form could produce heavy downpours, isolated flooding, and gusty winds. Here’s a close view of what to expect.
Houston’s Sunday forecast
Morning (5 a.m. to noon): Most of the Houston area will have a quiet start to the day. Early morning temps will sit in the upper 70s to around 80 degrees through 9 a.m., before rising into the mid-80s by 11 a.m. A few scattered showers and weak thunderstorms are possible during the morning hours, but overall rain chances are only 20%.
