NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – A small business owner says he is heartbroken after his seafood shop was vandalized early Saturday (Aug. 2).
PeeWee’s Crabcakes on Old Gentilly Road was still open for business throughout the weekend because owner Charles Armstrong says he now has to raise more than $6,000 to repair the shattered windows and broken utility boxes.
“(We have) always stood for community, culture and resilience,” Armstrong wrote in a social media post. “We give back, we lift up and we provide opportunities — not just food, but flavor, love and tradition. For someone to try to shut that down is sad and shameful.”
Security cameras caught the attack on video. You can clearly see a man strike the front windows of the store at least seven times. He has shoulder-length dreadlocks and a beard.
