Multiple homicides in Winston-Salem over the weekend

It was a violent weekend in Winston-Salem. According to police reports, early Friday night, a 16-year-old was shot and killed on Berl Street, roughly 2 miles east of Smith Reynolds Airport.

The following morning, in what officials say is an unrelated incident, officers found three victims with apparent gunshot wounds in East Winston. They were 17, 18, and 23 years old.

And then just after midnight on Sunday, police responded to gunfire reports on Patterson Avenue, approximately 1 mile east of Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum. There, they found 20-year-old Deshaun Capers suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency crews pronounced him dead at the scene…
