New Bedford rapist, kidnapper tied to Dartmouth break-in, denied parole

A 70-year-old Bristol County man, Steven Correia, has been denied parole following his conviction for a violent sexual assault committed nearly four decades ago while he was on escape from a prior incarceration.

This marks Correia’s first appearance before the Massachusetts Parole Board, which issued its unanimous decision on July 29, 2025. Correia, who has spent over 40 years behind bars, will be eligible for another hearing in four years.
