AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Temperatures will be noticeably cooler today with highs in the 70s. Temperatures will stay below average for the next 7 days. Daily rain chances continue into upcoming week.

A pattern meteorologists refer to as the “wedge” will build in. This happens when surface high pressure builds into our north giving our region a cool northeasterly breeze. Meanwhile, the flow aloft remains warm and moist out of the southwest. The result is a cloudy, cool and at times wet pattern that will persist today – keeping rain in the forecast and high temperatures only in the upper 70s.

The wedge breaks down by Tuesday and Wednesday, but moisture will remain above average, so rain chances will remain elevated through at least Friday with highs in the middle to upper 80s Tuesday through Friday…
