Montgomery Church Becomes City’s First Sensory-Inclusive House of Worship

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — A Montgomery church is taking steps to ensure all worshippers feel welcome by becoming the city’s first sensory-inclusive house of worship.

Unity Worship Center officially opened its new sensory room Saturday, offering a calm and supportive environment for children with sensory processing disorders such as autism, ADHD and PTSD.

The room is equipped with noise-canceling headphones, fidget tools and weighted blankets to help individuals regulate sensory input during services. Church staff will also receive annual training on sensory inclusion to better support families with sensitive needs…
