MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — An employee at a Mobile business was injured while trying to stop an alleged shoplifter.

According to a Mobile Police Department news release, officers were called to the Piggly Wiggly at 2306 St. Stephens Road Sunday, Aug. 3, at about 7 p.m. for a report of a robbery.
When officers arrived, they were told a man tried to leave the store with items he had not paid for when an employee grabbed him in an attempt to stop him, the release said.
The man was able to break away from the employee and leave the store, but not before the employee suffered minor injuries, according to the release. The employee was taken to the hospital for treatment.
