13-year-old enrolls at Alabama college, making history

While other 13-year-olds throughout the state are preparing for their first day of junior high, one Alabama student is getting ready to take on a different educational milestone: college.

Van-Houston McMillion will begin classes this fall at Calhoun Community College, making him the youngest student in the school’s more than 70-year history. While there, he will be working toward an Associate Degree of Science in General Education with a focus on chemistry through in-person as well as online classes.
