The Davis community is grappling with the aftermath of a shooting that occurred on April 12 at Rainbow City Park. Joseph Allen Davis, 19, from Sacramento, was charged with illegal firearm possession following the incident, which left three people injured by gunfire, according to a criminal complaint that was recently unsealed. As reported by The U.S. Department of Justice, Davis, who has a prior conviction for a felon gun possession offense, was found by authorities to have a short-barrel AR-15-style pistol during a search of his apartment. Acting U.S. Attorney Kimberly A. Sanchez announced the charges, with Davis facing up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted; any sentence, however, would ultimately be determined by the court after considering statutory factors and federal sentencing guidelines.
