WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Your First Alert Forecast opens with variable clouds and the possibility of a stray shower or thundershower amid muggier easterly breezes Monday. After a couple of mornings with cool 60s on the Cape Fear temperature map, expect seasonable 80s for Monday afternoon. Monday’s rip current risk will be generally low for the Brunswick Islands and moderate for east-facing beaches, where a southbound longshore current is also in-play.
On the tropical weather scene: Tropical Storm Dexter will scoot east and north of Bermuda and away from the US through midweek. Also, new storm development south of the Outer Banks and also the central main development region of the Atlantic Ocean is possible later in the week. These features will warrant watching but, thankfully, as Atlantic Hurricane Season nears its statistical peak, the Cape Fear Region faces no definable threats at this time.
