UPTOWN — Ferris, a piping plover chick hatched this summer at Montrose Beach, was killed by a red-tailed hawk Saturday.
The update was shared by the Chicago Piping Plovers group, whose members have closely watched over Ferris and the other two chicks since they were eggs.
