Sallie’s Bistro closes; new restaurant to fill space

DUNEDIN — A dinner at Sallie’s Bistro often began with an amuse bouche, something like a delicate tomato soup or a curried carrot bisque served in a tiny porcelain cup.

That little something extra — a tiny gift from the kitchen — always felt like an auspicious start to an evening at the petite Belgian bistro, which in its three-year lifespan amassed a solid local following for its creative European fare and warm hospitality.

Sallie’s run came to an abrupt halt in May, when following personal loss and a life-threatening health crisis owner Michèle Kamayi was forced to close the restaurant temporarily. Then last week, to the chagrin of many North Pinellas diners, Kamayi confirmed that Sallie’s would not reopen…
