MCSD Students and faculty return for first day of school

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – Summer break is officially over for students in the Muscogee County School District as they returned to the classroom Monday morning. Some students wished for a little more time off, while others were eager to dive into a new school year.

MCSD Superintendent Dr. David Lewis says the district is implementing new programs aimed at improving student learning and engagement.

“We are working towards proficiency,” Dr. Lewis said. “We are implementing our new English language arts standards, also finishing up our reading cohort of the Rollins training. We are providing for all of our schools to work on the structured science of reading.”…
