New Netflix series ‘Leanne’ takes place in Knoxville. Here are the East Tennessee references we spotted

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Knoxville native Leanne Morgan’s new self-titled Netflix show pays homage to the comedian’s hometown.

The show follows Leanne Hayes’ journey after her husband of 35 years, Bill, leaves her for another woman. Leanne’s sister, Carol, stays with her as she works through the divorce process. The show premiered Thursday, and by Monday morning it was ranked second on Netflix’s top 10 shows.

The show takes place in Knoxville, and in the first five episodes there are nods to the Great Smoky Mountains, the University of Tennessee and mentions of another town in the Volunteer State…
