LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Okemos Public Schools reports that it will no longer offer free meals to all students at the start of the 2025–26 school year due to a delay in state funding.
Michigan lawmakers have not yet created a budget for the upcoming school year; therefore, guaranteed funding is unavailable for districts across the state.

The district reports that due to differences in community income levels that determine eligibility for additional meal program funding, some area school districts are unable to offer free meals to all students, including Okemos.
