ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – The City of Roanoke could soon adopt a new ordinance that would ban city residents from owning hybrid canines like wolfdogs.
The proposed ordinance follows concerns raised by residents of the Deyerle neighborhood in South Roanoke about a group of wolfdogs that escaped their enclosure on Windsor Road and caused problems on multiple occasions.
“We recognize that there is at least one other responsible dog owner who owns one. We certainly don’t want to punish that individual. However, the research we’ve done shows that these dogs, canine hybrids that include wolf hybrid dogs, are dangerous.
