(KRON) — Two women were arrested Sunday after forcing a husband by gunpoint to drive away from a Healdsburg park where the pair had just robbed and assaulted his wife, according to authorities.
The Healdsburg Police Department responded at 5:27 p.m. to the area of Byron Gibbs Park, located at 1520 Prentice Drive, on the report of an assault. Arriving officers found a woman bleeding profusely from the head. After speaking to the injured woman, officers learned of a brazen daylight robbery, carjacking and kidnapping that began when the victim and her husband stopped at the park to use the restroom.
While returning to their vehicle from the restroom, the husband and wife saw a woman who was in need of assistance. As the couple was attempting to help, the woman took out a handgun and demanded the wife’s belongings and vehicle, police said. The wife was struck in the head with the gun during the confrontation.
