CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A few more storm chances will come with an upcoming change in our weather pattern.
Fortunately, we still have a little more time before humidity becomes significantly more noticeable. That includes tonight, when skies will turn mostly clear and temperatures stay comfortable. Lows overnight will fall into the upper 50s to low 60s.
The buildup of warmth and humidity continues each day through the end of the work week. You’ll start to notice more humidity in the air as soon as tomorrow, with the truly sweltering conditions back on the table by the end of the week. Initial indications are that it won’t be quite as humid as the last round of these conditions, but still plenty sticky.
The chance for storms holds off a bit longer, though, and you should expect a nearly entirely dry Tuesday. “Nearly entirely” is a bit of hedging against the slim chance of a sprinkle popping up on Tuesday afternoon. The most likely outcome is that you will not experience any rain, and just puffy pop-up clouds will be seen. Highs reach the low 80s for most.
That equation changes a little bit by daybreak on Wednesday. That’s when a decaying area of rain and thunderstorms will make a run at entering at least our western counties, potentially causing a somewhat wet start to the day. This is also a fairly slight chance, but it’s high enough that we include it on our 9-day forecast.
Similar slight chance for storms come and go through Thursday night, though a good portion of this time will be spent with dry weather. Heat and humidity continue to build, though, and you’ll really feel it by Thursday into Friday…
