WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A newly installed security gate at Sim Park will be locked nightly at 9 p.m. starting Monday as part of the City’s effort to reduce after-hours vehicle traffic and preserve park amenities.
The City of Wichita installed the gate due to the following reasons:
- Reckless driving: Drivers using the Botanica parking lot to perform donuts, resulting in expensive asphalt damage.
- Street racing: Nighttime drag racing by cars and motorcycles, endangering participants and the public.
- Noise pollution: Ongoing nuisance noise complaints from nearby neighborhoods
