Escapee Captured in Alabama After Tip Leads Authorities to Hiding Spot

A coordinated effort between multiple law enforcement agencies led to the capture of escaped inmate Christopher Austin Tedford on Monday night, ending a manhunt that spanned state lines.

Acting on a tip received through Crime Stoppers, authorities from the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, Lamar County Sheriff’s Office, and the Sulligent Police Department located Tedford around 10 p.m. at a residence on McCrary Road in Sulligent, Alabama. When officers entered the home, they found Tedford hiding under a bed. He initially resisted arrest but was ultimately taken into custody without further incident.

In addition to his original escape charge, Tedford is now facing resisting arrest in Alabama. After legal proceedings there, he will be extradited to Mississippi, where he faces charges of escape, burglary in Lowndes County, and felony shoplifting in Amory…
