Man accused of running over detective to evade capture held as probation violator

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — The Pawtucket man accused of running a North Kingstown detective over with his car last week faced a judge Monday morning.

Alec Perry, 30, was arrested Friday night and charged with solicitation of a child, felony assault, eluding police, assault on an officer, obstruction and resisting arrest.

The North Kingstown detective was among several investigators working an undercover sting operation involving Perry, according to the Rhode Island State Police.

Police said the investigation into Perry began once he started engaging “in an extended series of text messages soliciting sex from an undercover police officer who he believed to be a 13-year-old girl.”…
