2 get life terms for assault with homemade weapons, cane at Delano prison

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Two men serving life terms at Kern Valley State Prison in Delano were sentenced to an additional 27 years to life for attacking another inmate with homemade weapons and a wooden cane.

David Charles Macon, 50, and Michael Gaddy, 49, were each found guilty last month of assault with a deadly weapon by a prisoner serving a life term. They were sentenced Friday, court records show.

On April 7, 2024, Gaddy and Macon stabbed and slashed an inmate on the prison patio who was headed to a visit with family, according to prosecutors. The victim raised his cane to defend himself, prosecutors said, but the assailants wrestled it away and Macon used it to beat him…
