Two individuals, one adult and one juvenile, were apprehended by the Drug Control Units of Boston Police yesterday, in connection with firearm and drug offenses, as announced by the Boston Police Department. The suspects, identified as 23-year-old Daryl Elliot-Powell of Mattapan and a 17-year-old female, were arrested near Massachusetts Avenue and Albany Street.
According to the police, at approximately 12:22 PM, officers who were patrolling the area noticed a crowd gathering at the intersection, and observed a female holding money. Moments later, officers saw two individuals on a moped coming onto the sidewalk towards her. Upon the officers’ approach, and after identifying themselves, the group attempted to disperse, the moped’s operator tried to speed off but was stopped after officers grabbed the handlebars.
The officers were able to detain both riders and secure two backpacks that fell from the moped during the arrest. The Boston Police Department stated in their release that one backpack contained heroin, while the other, heavier backpack harbored a loaded firearm and crack cocaine. Specifically, the firearm was a Ruger 9mm with a magazine holding ten rounds, alongside 5.9 grams of heroin and 8.6 grams of crack cocaine found in the bags…
