Bridge Street business to close its doors, citing stadium construction issues

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – A traditional mead hall on Grand Rapids’ west side will have its last day open on Aug. 31.

Arktos Meadery took to Facebook to announce the decision to close its business at 442 Bridge St. NW, citing the economy and construction of the new Amway soccer stadium as factors.

“Like many small businesses in the craft beverage industry, we’ve been facing mounting challenges,” the post reads. “The economy has been hard on us all, and the recent closure of the main public parking lot near our location, cleared to make way for a new Amway soccer stadium, was far more of an arrow to the knee than the Grand Rapids City Commissioners were willing to admit.”…
