New Engineering Marvel Ready to Open at this Wednesday at MTSU

Murfreesboro, TN – A major milestone is about to unfold at Middle Tennessee State University, where the highly anticipated $74.8 million Applied Engineering Building is set to officially open its doors this Wednesday morning. At 10:00 a.m. on August 6, the university will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the sprawling new facility, located at the corner of Alumni Drive and Blue Raider Drive.

Covering an impressive 90,000 square feet, the cutting-edge complex will serve as the new home for MTSU’s acclaimed Mechatronics Engineering program, alongside other Engineering Technology specialties. It’s more than just a building—it’s a hub for hands-on innovation, equipped with state-of-the-art robotics, advanced equipment, and the kind of space that sparks future-ready learning and collaboration.

MTSU President Sidney A. McPhee will lead the celebration, welcoming guests and sharing some of the university’s latest accomplishments.
