FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — Fall River police are trying to transform a community space that the department says has “become overrun with criminal activity.”
Police initiated “Operation Clear Path” Monday morning to clean up the area of the Quequechan River Rail Trail, specifically the span between Rodman Street and Brayton Avenue.
“Over the past three years, this section of the Rail Trail has generated more than 800 calls for service, including reports of sexual assaults, overdoses, robberies, fires, assaults with weapons, and the ongoing presence of biohazardous waste,” police said in a post on social media. “What was once a symbol of pride in our historic city has tragically become overrun with criminal activity, drug use, violence, and hazardous conditions.”
