New developments expected to add nearly 500 middle-class and affordable housing units in downtown Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – A new wave of housing aimed at bridging a gap in middle-class and affordable units is rising in downtown Colorado Springs.

Those behind Draper Commons, a multi-phase housing development, said the project will bring around 500 new apartments to the core of the city.

One phase of the development, Sumner House, is already open and offers 95 units reserved for residents earning 30% to 60% of the area median income (AMI), with monthly rents starting around $590 including utilities…
