NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Chris Bostick was rushed to Monument Health Hospital in Sturgis after experiencing severe gastrointestinal bleeding, which doctors now believe is related to injuries sustained during his high-speed crash in Seattle just 13 days ago.
After conducting a series of diagnostic tests, including a CAT scan, doctors at Monument recommended immediate transfer to a larger facility in Rapid City, South Dakota. However, Chris has made the decision to return home to Nashville, Tennessee, where he will be admitted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.
Chris began experiencing troubling symptoms yesterday afternoon and immediately contacted Tim Kulungian, crew chief of the WAR Pro Stock Motorcycle team. Tim, who had to the WAR race shop, reviewed the onboard data from Seattle and confirmed a side impact of just over five Gs. The crash data revealed that although the bodywork of the motorcycle didn’t make direct contact with the wall, the violent impact caused the bike’s bodywork to shift significantly.
While Chris initially walked away from the Seattle incident with what were believed to be only minor injuries, this latest development highlights the hidden dangers of high-speed racing impacts…
