Actress Kelley Mack, known for her role in “The Walking Dead,” has died at the age of 33. Mack, whose birth name was Kelley Klebenow, passed away peacefully in her hometown of Cincinnati on Saturday. According to a statement released on CaringBridge, the cause of death was glioma of the central nervous system, a type of tumor affecting the brain or spinal cord.
Mack’s family shared the news on her Instagram account on Tuesday, expressing their sadness and celebrating her life. Colleagues, friends, and fans have offered condolences, remembering the actress as talented and kind. Alanna Masterson, Mack’s co-star on “The Walking Dead,” praised Mack as “an incredible human” and expressed pride in having worked alongside her.
With 35 acting credits and five producer credits to her name, Mack built a successful career in film and television. She was best known for portraying Addy in season 9 of “The Walking Dead,” Penelope Jacobs in season 8 of “Chicago Med,” and for her appearances on “9-1-1.”
She also lent her voice and on-screen presence to numerous commercials for brands like Dr. Pepper, Ross, Dairy Queen, and Chick-fil-A.
A childhood gift of a video camera sparked Mack’s early interest in storytelling and led to her first acting roles in commercials.
Remembered for her warmth, creativity, and supportive nature, Mack inspired many within and beyond the entertainment industry. A graduate of Hinsdale Central High School, she furthered her education at Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts, earning a bachelor’s degree in cinematography.
Mack is survived by her parents, Kristen and Lindsay Klebenow; her sister Kathryn and brother Parker; her grandparents Lois and Larry Klebenow; and her boyfriend, Logan Lanier. Her family and friends will remember her talent, kindness, and vibrant spirit.
