Early designs of Kent County aquarium show transformed contaminated site

Conceptual renderings released by John Ball Zoo portray a large aquarium building with trails and a boardwalk path leading out to the Grand River that could transform a long-contaminated property in Walker.

The renderings, first reported by MLive, are early concept images that are subject to change, according to a John Ball Zoo spokesperson.

Zoo CEO Peter D’Arienzo said in an emailed statement that the zoo is working with experts and state officials to perform due diligence on the potential aquarium site, “to ensure the project has a positive impact on our air, land and water while expanding our mission of saving wildlife and wild places and bringing huge economic benefits to our region.”…
