Flood watches throughout the Triad on cold, rainy Wednesday

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — A Flood Watch is in effect for Alamance, Chatham, Davidson, Forsyth, Guilford, Montgomery, and Randolph Counties until midnight.

Rainfall totals over the past 48 hours have exceeded 1 inch in many areas and have been as high as 3+ inches in the southern Piedmont. Additional rainfall today could produce areas of flooding or flash flooding. Areas that are prone to flooding should be avoided today, along with any water-covered roads.

We will continue to have scattered showers through mid-afternoon. Rain is going to move east of the FOX8 viewing area by dinnertime, though clouds will stubbornly hang around.

As far as temperatures go, we won’t see much of a warm-up today. Highs are only going to make it to the upper-60s. This is, however, the coolest day of the week and we’ll have steadily warmer weather in the days to come. The chance of rain is 90%.

Overnight, clouds stay put across the Triad and all counties eastward. To the west, you may see some clearer conditions until daybreak.  Lows are going to stay in the mid-60s.

Mostly cloudy skies are expected for tomorrow with just a 20% chance of rain.  Temperatures are going to begin to warm up, reaching the mid-70s by afternoon…
