Drivers in Rancho Cordova should plan for potential delays on the evening of Friday as the local police department rolls out a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint. In a bid to curb impaired driving, the Rancho Cordova Police Department will set up a checkpoint from 7 PM to 2 AM at a location they have chosen not to disclose beforehand. The initiative aims to enhance road safety by identifying and removing drivers impaired by alcohol and drugs from the streets.
According to a social media post by the Rancho Cordova PD, the location for this DUI checkpoint is informed by data indicating a high occurrence of impaired driving incidents in the area. Officers at the checkpoint will be looking for signs of impairment from alcohol or drugs, as well as verifying that drivers have proper licensing. The department has stated that they “will strive to delay motorists only momentarily,” though it’s anticipated that some delays may occur.
