Columbus man arrested in Lincoln for child enticement

LINCOLN, Neb. — A Columbus man is in custody after allegedly attempting to meet a minor for sex, who was actually an undercover investigator with the Lincoln Police Department.

According to LPD, 37-year-old Martin Gomez began communicating on July 9, 2025 with a Special Victims Unit investigator posing as a 15-year-old girl on social media. The conversation quickly became sexually explicit, with Gomez reportedly sending unsolicited photos.

After several weeks of communication, Gomez and the undercover investigator arranged to meet in person at Mahoney Park in Lincoln, with plans to secure a hotel room together. However, when Gomez arrived on August 1, 2025 he was met by SVU investigators and taken into custody just before 1:30 p.m…
