Clark County School District police concerned over enforcement on new bus ‘stop-arm’ camera law

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Clark County School District leaders are applauding a new law that allows cameras on school bus stop arms.

However, there are concerns over enforcement, including whether the Clark County School District Police Department even has the manpower to handle writing tickets to violators.

“It is really using technology to help with safety and we’re very excited for that,” Amber Rideout, CCSD assistant superintendent of transportation said. “When you see a school bus and the stop-arms are out – please stop.”

Starting July 1, state school districts were allowed to install cameras on stop arms after Nevada lawmakers passed Assembly Bill 527 during the recent legislative session.
