South Park Creators Take Aim at Homeland Security Chief Kristi Noem
The irreverent animated comedy South Park, fresh off a $1.5 billion streaming deal with CBS, continues its tradition of skewering political figures. This time, Homeland Security chief Kristi Noem finds herself in the creators’ crosshairs.
In a recent episode, the show satirized Noem’s controversial past, including an incident where she admitted to shooting her family dog. A recruitment video parody within the episode depicts Noem cheerfully shooting puppies while extolling the virtues of detaining and questioning people. The episode also mocks the “Cosplay Barbie” nickname Noem earned for her penchant for themed photoshoots, portraying her face as literally falling off and requiring reassembly by a team of beauty professionals.
This latest jab follows previous South Park episodes targeting former President Donald Trump, which reportedly left him “seething,” according to sources. The show’s creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, offered a tongue-in-cheek apology at San Diego Comic Con, further fueling speculation about their willingness to push boundaries.
While CBS executives have praised South Park‘s “fearless humor,” the network’s recent cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, a program also known for its political commentary, has raised eyebrows. Some observers wonder if South Park‘s pointed political satire will ultimately face similar consequences. For now, however, Parker and Stone seem undeterred in their mission to lampoon those in power.
