LANSING, Mich. — “I applaud Governor Whitmer, someone that I work very well with,” said Michigan Speaker of the House Matt Hall at a press conference Wednesday. “Really, the two leaders working on this budget is Governor Whitmer and myself.”
Hall is referring to the ongoing state budget negotiations going on between Republicans and Democrats in Lansing. It’s now more than a month past the legal deadline to pass a budget; however, there is no direct penalty for exceeding that deadline.
