MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A judge Wednesday ordered a medical clinic to remain closed, at least until he considers a request by the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office for a preliminary injunction.
The DA’s Office sued the South Alabama Medical & Rehab Clinic on Old Shell Road, alleging that it violated the Alabama Deceptive Trade Practices Act in a scheme that took advantage of accident victims. On Wednesday, Mobile County Circuit Judge Michael Windom issued what is known as a temporary restraining order against the clinic and other defendants.
The clinic already was closed. Windom’s order requires it to remain that way.
The judge also prohibited the defendants and anyone acting on their behalf from soliciting “personally, telephonically, electronically, or any in any other manner, any person to receive treatment at the South Alabama Medical & Rehab Clinic.”…
